I took my first quilting class about 20 years ago. It was a hand piece and quilt class. I hand pieced enough blocks for a couple of king sized quilts, but they never got hand quilted. I made some baby quilts and table runners that got hand quilted, but the fear of hand quilting those huge quilts kept me from finishing them. I machine pieced a twin size quilt for a charity, but instead of quilting it was tied. I have always loved fabric and sewing and last November I started looking online at fabrics and got the urge to try my hand at machine piecing and quilting. I bought this pumpkins gone wild fabric online and used the yellow brick pattern that I used for the charity quilt. I bought a darning foot and practiced the free style meandering quilting and then took the plunge and quilted this quilt and loved it! Now I am totally addicted and have plans to make all my immediate family members lap quilts over the next couple of years, that is my goal anyway :-). This quilt was for my mom for Christmas and now has a home on the back of her couch!
